The New Bethesda Farm Organic Pasture Raised Egg Package
Our new egg carton features a new type of packaging. We received feedback from people who appreciate that we use paper-based packaging instead of plastic. We don’t like plastic either, so we stayed with the paper: our new carton is 100% recyclable paper. At the bottom of this page, you’ll find a list of eco-friendly and other benefits of the moulded fiber used in our packaging.
Simple, Clean Design with Some Fun Inside
Egg producers do enough to keep you confused, so we started with our original sun, sky and grass design and made it even simpler. We wanted to communicate the value of our eggs:
Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified
Hens live on organic pasture and receive only organic and Non-GMO Project verified feed, freshly ground in our own feedmill.
Pasture-Raised
According to Mother Earth News, eggs from hens raised on pasture:
- 1/3 less cholesterol.
- 1/4 less saturated fat.
- 2/3 more vitamin A.
- 2 times more omega-3 fatty acids.
- 3 times more vitamin E.
- 7 times more beta carotene.
- 4 to 6 times as much vitamin D
Local
The hens that lay Bethesda Farm Organic, Pasture-raised Eggs all live on one small family farm in Florida. Not only are the eggs local, which reduces the amount of fuel needed to bring them to your market, we are also working constantly to source everything we can as locally as possible. Of course all of the organic grain that we use is sourced domestically, but we are also working to build relationships with local farmers in Florida.
Time to Color!
While digging in to where your food comes is important to eating and living well, what’s it all for if we aren’t appreciating the little things in life? Enough philosophy, time to color! We included a hen coloring page on the inside of our new carton. And just in case you can’t bring yourself to tear off the top of the package, or if you have more than one child and they get into a “discussion” over who gets to color the hen, we have the full-sized hen (we couldn’t fit it on the inside of the package) that you can download, print and color whenever and wherever (coloring pencils not included). Enjoy!
And if you would rather read more about the benefits of molded fiber, here’s the list we promised you at the top of the page:
Benefits of Molded Fiber
Recyclable
Moulded fiber is 100% recyclable. Plastic is not.
Renewable
Made from renewable resources, moulded fibre helps to protect limited resources. Plastic is derived from non-renewable sources.
Carbon Neutral
The raw material of moulded fibre packaging is carbon neutral. Plastic has a significant carbon footprint.
Biodegradable
Moulded fibre packaging is biodegradable, meaning that it returns to the ecological cycle. It takes a long time for plastic to disintegrate. Otherwise it is incinerated along with other non-recyclable waste.
Savings
Recycling saves precious resources and lowers emissions and waste disposal. Plastic impacts precious resources.
Protective Packaging
Unlike plastics, moulded fibre cushions, protects and absorbs shocks due to its ability to compress.
Absorbs Moisture
Prevents condensation and mould on eggshells. Plastic is non-absorbent.
Sustainability
Environmental friendliness is a key differentiator for moulded fibre over plastics.
